The IADMS Regional Meetings are co-hosted educational events that facilitate and address the healthy dance/dancer needs of local dance communities across the globe.
Interested in hosting an IADMS Regional Meeting in your area?
Serving as a Local Host for an IADMS Regional Meeting can be a rewarding experience that brings together several like-minded community members to discuss dance medicine and science in your region of the world. Hosting a Regional Meeting involves direct collaboration with the IADMS Board, staff, and committees to ensure that the Regional Meeting is delivered on time in a professional manner that aligns with IADMS branding and reputation.
Submitting an Expression of Interest:
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis but must be received at least 12 months in advance of the proposed meeting start date.
IADMS hosts up to 2 Regional Meetings a year, in the months of December/January and April/May. You will be asked to identify the day(s) in those months in which you prefer to host the meeting.
Each Regional Meeting should have a particular theme/focus (e.g. adolescent dancers – geared to dance teachers; management of dancers’ injuries geared to physical therapists; latest in the medical management of dancers geared to healthcare professionals) and should align with the IADMS mission statement. The Regional Meeting’s local host committee should consist of at least 2 current IADMS members. On a practical front, the venue’s suitability needs to be reviewed (parking, accessibility, suitable rooms, AV availability, technical support, seating capacity, space for the possibility of movement sessions, and nearby accommodations for non-residents). Venues that can support a hybrid attendance structure will be favored. Finally, the potential audience, including demographics of IADMS members and others in the field that work/live in the proposed region, should be noted.
Submission of your Expression of Interest serves as the first step in the process and is a means to ensure your proposed local host committee understands the requirements and obligations. You will be contacted by IADMS staff upon review of your application if additional details are needed, or to discuss the next steps.
